Equipment

  • 1 large glass bowl
  • 1 large spoon
  • 1 scale
  • 1 large stainless steel pot
  • 1 scale
  • 1 stick blender
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 2lb mold

Ingredients

  • 9 ounces olive oil
  • 5 ounces coconut oil
  • 5 ounces palm oil
  • 3 ounces avocado oil
  • 3.4 ounces lye
  • 9 ounces water
  • 0.4 ounce cedarwood essential oil
  • 0.4 ounce fir essential oil

Instructions

  • Weigh and combine cocoa butter, coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil, and avocado oil in a large stainless steel pot and heat over low heat until oils are melted. Cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
    9 ounces olive oil, 5 ounces coconut oil, 5 ounces palm oil, 3 ounces avocado oil
  • Weigh water and lye in separate containers. Outside, with protective gloves, goggles, and mask, slowly add lye to the water (be careful. Lye will burn your skin if it touches you. Don't inhale vapors either!). Stir. Cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
    3.4 ounces lye, 9 ounces water
  • Pour lye water into oils and blend with hand mixer until light trace.
  • Add essential oils and blend.
    0.4 ounce cedarwood essential oil, 0.4 ounce fir essential oil
  • Pour into a mold and insulate for 24 hours. Remove from mold and cut. Cure for 3-6 weeks.
