I just realized that the eye serum formula that has been in my shop for a year already was not published for you yet!
A number of you have asked me, how can you give away your secrets to prospective buyers from your shop? Won’t people make it themselves instead of buying it from you?
Well, no, I don’t think so. Those who want to make, will make. Those who want to buy, will buy. While some people just want to try it once before spending the larger amount of money in purchasing all the ingredients to make it for themselves.
Either way, I’m sticking to what I started this blog for…sharing my knowledge and experience so that others can become more self sufficient and healthier in their day to day practices.
And this recipe is FABULOUS!
I still use my eye cream and anti aging serum for full face, neck and hands. But this eye serum is the perfect blend to have on hand on those days where you’ve had less sleep and just seem to have puffier eyes that make you look half asleep.
It’s great to use in the morning or as a refresher in the evenings.
Why Make Your Own?
There are a lot of eye serums out there. Why make your own?
1. It’s Frugal
The best of the best eye serums are very expensive for the result that they give. Between myself and family members, we’ve tried a lot, and they just don’t give the results. I know of one that does. It even has mostly good ingredients, but it’s $130 a tiny bottle….Why do that when you can get equal results with the correct essential oil blend?
When you purchase the essential oils your initial cost is more, but those oils can be used for multiple recipes and will last longer in the long run.
If you still aren’t ready to make that jump, then try it out first in my shop.
2. It’s Healthier
Most eye serums on the market have horrible ingredients mixed in with the good. They contain such things as Dimethicone which is considered carcinogenic. Of course the FDA hasn’t banned it but told the industry to jut use a little bit. Retinyl Linoleate or Retinyl Palmitate (Vit A Palmitate) is often used, and it’s a 9 on the EWG safety scale for causing cancer! I could go on and on, but the point is, that among the good ingredients are horrible ingredients, and some of the biggest offenders are promoted super strongly by the companies (How many times do you see retinyl on a container!).
Essential oils must also be used with caution. It’s easy to find the two extremes on the internet: people who dribble themselves with every essential oil possible daily, to those who are scared to death of them and don’t realize that the very peppermint oil that they eat in foods is an essential oil.
In balance, recognize that essential oils are potent. You can also become sensitized to essential oils when you start to have allergic reactions to them. Always use diluted and in moderation for best results. Click here for an essential oil safety guide.
Natural Eye Serum Recipe
This recipe makes one ounce of eye serum. I recommend using an amber glass dropper bottle like this one.
Ingredients:
- 5 drops Rose Essential Oil
- 8 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
- 10 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
- 6 drops Bergamot Essential Oil
- 2 drops Red Thyme Essential Oil
- 0.5 ounce Jojoba Oil
- 0.5 ounce Rosehip Oil
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a 1 ounce amber dropper bottle. The amount of jojoba and rosehip oils are approximate. Simply fill the bottle with half jojoba and half rosehip oil.
- Close tightly and shake gently to combine.
- To Use: 2-3 drops around the eyes after cleansing, being careful to not get any in the eyes.
Each one of the essential oils do something different for the skin. Together they help to remove redness, inflammation, improve tightness of skin and help fine lines to diminish or disappear. I reaaallly love this formula! Leave a comment with your experience with it so others can hear how fabulous it is too.
If you’d like to try it now, you can find it in my shop here.
