How to Make a Mocha Cellulite Scrub Soap Recipe with Caffeine

The fact is that caffeine scrubs and lotions have been shown to make a difference in breaking up light cellulite. I’ve seen a difference myself. I’m not sure if it’s the scrubbing that helps break down deposits or the combination, but I’m a fan.

And I always love a new soap recipe!

This is actually similar to a recipe that’s in my book, Natural Soap Making Book for Beginners. It’s a different recipe, but the same concept: Add coffee, coffee grounds, coffee oil, and cocoa powder into a soap recipe that is gently exfoliating, full of caffeine, and smells like a mocha coffee after the cocoa and vanilla are added.

Cellulite

Cellulite is extremely common (up to 90% of women) and purely cosmetic. I think we should ignore the air brushed models and actors and realize that everyone else around us is the same. But I also understand being frustrated. For this reason, I made this soap.

Cellulite is subcutaneous fat. It is close to the surface of the skin. High estrogen is usually the cause of excess weight gain on the lower body. Of course, sleep, activity, eating habits, and genetics all contribute as well. When I was having serious health issues and dropped below 100 pounds I still had cellulite! So give yourself a break, but go ahead and use this great caffeine scrub bar to give yourself a spa treatment.

Caffeine Treatments for Skin

Caffeine has been shown to dilate blood vessels and increase blood flow, even when added to the skin. Anytime there’s increased blood flow, healing and action takes place. This is why you should add frankincense extract and essential oils like peppermint, cypress, and caffeine to joints like the knee when it is hurt, because the knee doesn’t get a lot of blood flow and frankincense decreases inflammation and essential oils and caffeine increase blood flow.

More blood flow, faster healing. More blood flow, plus scrubbing, and you’ll increase lymph drainage and increase the overall appearance of that area.

Mocha Cellulite Scrub Soap Ingredients

I only use natural and healthy ingredients in my soaps (and everything else). If there is something that is controversial or more often is man made and lacks research, then I just don’t use it.

This is one of the reasons I started making my own Melt and Pour base. It’s very difficult, if not impossible, to find a base without 2-10 ingredients that are questionable or just downright toxic.

I do not use fragrance oils as they are a chemical lab brew. Instead, I use essential oils and herbs for texture, medicinal purposes, and scent. If you are looking for a good essential oil brand that isn’t extremely expensive, then starwest botanical is an affiliate of mine that I really like.

Coffee Oil can be purchased from a number of locations. I’ve done a little reading on SVA organics and plant therapy and they seem to be legit in their acquisition and processing.

Mocha Scrub Bar Recipe

This recipe makes 3 pounds, or 12 four ounce bars.

Superfat content is 10%

Ingredients:

• 10 ounces coconut oil
• 8 ounces olive oil
• 6 ounces cocoa butter
• 6 ounces avocado oil
• 4 ounces sweet almond oil
• 4.6 ounces lye
• 11 ounces brewed coffee, chilled
• 2-3 tablespoon used coffee granules
• 2 Tablespoon cocoa powder
• 0.5 ounce coffee oil

Directions:

1. Combine coconut oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, avocado oil, and sweet almond oil in a large stainless steel pot. Heat on medium to low to melt cocoa butter. Cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Use 2-3 Tablespoons of coffee to make 11 ounces of coffee. I just make a few cups of coffee and pour them into my container to weigh it. Drink or pour out any excess. Allow the coffee to cool. Save the used coffee granules.
3. Weigh the lye in a zip close bag. Take the lye water and coffee water outside. Wearing gloves, eye protection, and a charcoal mask, pour the lye into the coffee water and stir until dissolved. Do not breathe in the fumes that will come off of it for a few minutes. Allow to cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
4. When oils and lye water are cooled, pour lye water into oils and stir with a stick blender on and off until it comes to light trace (starts to thicken).
5. Add coffee granules, coffee oil, and cocoa powder and blend well.
6. Scrape soap into a prepared mold and insulate unless your home is 75 or more degrees Fahrenheit. Allow to set for 24 hours. If it’s still too soft to remove from the mold, wait another 12-24 hours and check again.
7. Remove from the mold and cut if needed. Let cure for 3-6 weeks so that it hardens and last longer.

Use this as desired as a full body massage bar. You can also use gently on the face.
