Putting together your favorite drink combinations using herbs you know are healthy can be super fun and delicious. Sometimes it’s finding the best combination. You may learn that a particular herb makes great herbal detox drinks and yet find that it’s too bitter or strong for your taste. Instead of giving up on that herb, try it with a fruit or start drinking it with a bit of honey.
Finding What’s Best for You
All of the recipes below are delicious and mild.
Feel free to add more honey or more fruit if you are used to a sweeter drink. Work with what you like first. After all, if you don’t like it, then you won’t keep drinking it. Work your way slowly toward less sugar and more herb for optimal health benefits.
If you are already on a healthy diet of incorporating herbs and bitters into your day, then feel free to cut back on fruit or honey and add more herbs. Keep the fruits, because they are definitely beneficial, but feel free to mess with the ratios.
Why Herbal Detox Drinks
First of all, herbal detox drinks can be super delicious! I love fruit and herbal drinks and will pass up cake and cookies for a great healthy drink. I have to watch that, because it’s a slippery slope to sweet coffees. Instead of falling into that bad habit, I purposefully find delicious drinks that I know I love and keep the ingredients handy. I find myself craving my kombucha. It’s something my body needs and calls out for, so filling that with a drink instead of a pill seems like the perfect choice.
Second, the health benefits of herbal detox drinks are huge! These drinks can literally cleanse your liver, kidneys, bladder, and increase your metabolism, immune system, and therefore energy. I’ve added a little information about each drink and it’s biggest benefits before each recipe. So, make sure you read those and find what your body needs most. Make a few different recipes so that you are boosted from multiple directions. Have fun!
